Do you love peasant dresses? Then you will love Once Upon a Sewing Machine. Donna and Rachel are a cute as can be mother/daughter sewing duo. They offer several free patterns, including a peasant dress pattern and lots of fun ideas to change it up! The cutie in today’s post may love Iron Man, but she’s also a darling little princess.

Don’t forget to take a look at the whole family of superheros over on Friends Stitched Together today! Scroll down to the end for the giveaway and link party. Don’t forget you can sign up here to be involved next season!

Hi, my name is Rachel and I sew over at Once Upon a Sewing Machine. I sew for my two kids, a girl and boy, and sometimes myself. I have a full on tutu wearing girly girly, but she also likes to play in the dirt and pretend to be superheroes. So today I’m sharing an outfit I made for my littlest- who happens to be a big Iron Man fan.

He is her go to choice when playing superheroes in the front yard. And one of the only times she has requested a red outfit over pink and purple.

I wanted a full jumpsuit to reflect the whole body Iron Man suit. I didn’t want to go to literal with the center power source, because I was aiming for really wearable, so the Pleated Playsuit by Elephant and Elegance was a great solution. The pleat gives a front detail, and a nod to the center energy source, while making the outfit everyday wear.

My little Iron Man contemplating where she’s off to save the day. I used a red linen blend on the jumpsuit. It’s nice soft fabric, and easy to press the front pleat detail into.

ironman 9I used a gold metallic bias binding for the ties and tuxedo stripes. I applied the stripes before the pants hooked to the waist and before closing the inseam.

She found a giant log to lift. There is this massive fallen tree, which she put a huge amount of effort into trying to push. Then asked in all sincerity- Is it moving? I let her know it totally was.

She’s happy to have her superhero outfit, I’m counting this as a win in our house!

I would love for you to visit us and what else we’ve been sewing up.

This month, Amy and I will be making Avengers tee shirts for the giveaway winners! There will be two winners and we’ll coordinate sizes (3 months – 14) once they have been chosen.

I like IRON MAN from THE AVENGERS. Way COOL, your little girl’s outfit is COOL! A red pleated playsuit with gold metallic shoulder ties and stripes on the outside seam of each leg! A FAB “IRON MAN” superhero outfit, thanks to MOM! Looks versatile & a wear-everywhere outfit as a T-shirt can be added for cool weather.
