Fostering Creativity

CraftingCon: Milileke Designs

Hi I’m Tish from Milileke Designs and I’m so excited to be a part of season 2 of Craftingcon. I can’t wait to see all the creativity and talent that season 2 will bring.I love J.R.R. Tolkien’s Hobbit and Lord of the Ring books and I am slightly obsessed with all the movies. My favorite characters are the Hobbits because I am a Hobbit and my curly haired big footed little girl Miss K is one too.

Part Baggins, Miss K is cautious and reserved, weighing each situation; Part Took, she is adventurous, unpredictable and many times silly. That is why Bilbo Baggins is my inspiration for this look.

Oh and all of my favorite Bilbo quotes!

For my Bilbo look I used quilting cottons in bright colors for a fun and playful outfit. The skirt is simple gathered skirt with an elastic waist and a ruffle on the bottom that I made using Miss K’s measurements.

For the shirt, I used a plain long sleeve shirt from Target and added a faux vest. I redrafted the bodice piece from Mandy K designs’ XOXO sweetheart dress into a button up vest with curved straps and a pointed bottom. Both shirt and skirt can be paired with other clothes to make a number of cute outfits.

I love the bright colors and girly-ness of this outfit!

What Hobbit outfit would be complete without some big hairy Hobbit feet. Big hairy Hobbit feet slippers are my favorite part of this outfit. They are made of fleece, cotton stuffing and yarn for some cute curly hairs.

Check back later this month for a tutorial and pattern of these hairy Hobbit feet.

Thank you so much for having me!

Ah the cuteness!!! I can hardly stand it! I love the “How will I survive” picture – she looks so concerned! And the feet – shut the front door…
